Lorrd was home to the unique Lorrdian culture of baseline Humans. Its capital was Lorrd City.
During the Kanz Disorders, Lorrd was conquered by neighboring Argazda. The Lorrdians were enslaved and mistreated for 300 years (3,970 BBY - 3,670 BBY). During this period, the Galactic Republic and the Jedi Order were recovering from the wounds of the Old Sith Wars, and were unable to intervene. Communication amongst Lorrdian slaves was discouraged by the Argazdans, so the Lorrdians became adept at reading body language and developed intricate sign language.
Even long after the Jedi freed Lorrd, the Lorrdians remained staunch opponents of slavery, and were more fluent in non-verbal communication than most Humans were in verbal communication.
Lorrd and the Kanz Sector were represented by Nee Alavar in the Galactic Senate in the twilight years of the Galactic Republic.
Lorrd was also known as a great repository of academic knowledge. Lorrd City had a great university which contained many different schools of learning.
The planet of Lorrd is a lightly-inhabited desert world in the Kanz Sector with its Government Center being the relatively modern Capital City. This world is known for its rich mineral resources.
Role in LotJ
In the year 2 AHW (After Hyperspace War), the sentient populace of the planet was enslaved in the Kanz Disorders. Unfortunately, the Republic and the Jedi Order were unable to come to the planet's aid during this conflict. Over the course of the next decade, the humans of Lorrd managed to overthrow their masters. However, the Lorrdians did not have the resources to govern themselves effectively; thus, the world, though free, became essentially lawless for the next 40 years. This lawlessness continued until Herabec Sienar convinced the Lorrdians to join the Republic. However, when Sienar died under mysterious circumstances, the Lorrdians, now headed by the Lorrdian Council, reverted to a short-lived neutrality. The Council was then secretly murdered by HK-47 Droids of the Czerka Corporation. Quickly, Czerka used the deaths' impact to seize control. When Czerka's true nature became apparent and the Last War of the Republic began, the world regularly changed hands. Eventually the Lorrdians' dream came true as combatant after combatant found the world too difficult to hold. As the galaxy fell into chaos, the Lorrdians found themselves in a period of peace.
