The Talz were a large furry race with two distinct sets of eyes: one for day vision, and one for night vision. Their homeworld was Alzoc III, a frozen world with huge mineral wealth.
Physiology and Culture
Talz stood over 2 meters and were covered head to toe in thick white fur, which provided exceptional insulation and warmth. They were heavily muscled and sported very intimidating claws on their hands and feet. Perhaps their most remarkable feature were their four eyes. One pair of these eyes was well adapted to see clearly in intense light, while the other pair gave the Talz the ability to see in near total darkness.
Talz spoke their own language, also called Talz, composed of high-pitched chirps which seemed incongruous from such intimidating creatures. For the most part, Talz were gentle and kind-hearted creatures.
Imperial scouts discovered the Talz as the Emperor's New Order was finishing off what remained of the Old Republic. The Empire recognized a species well built for manual labor and enslaved the Talz, forcing them to work in their mining operations. As a result, very few Talz were seen outside the Alzoc system. Those that were found offworld were considered escaped slaves.
Role in LotJ
Talz were gentle, kind-hearted beings who were slow to anger. They lived in hunter-gatherer nomadic villages and would normally only be found off-planet if they had been enslaved.
Only those Talz whove left Alzoc would have encountered any technology at all. While they take to it fairly quickly, advanced applications such as engineering and science are largely beyond them.
Talz cannot speak Galactic Basic, only speaking Talz which consists of buzzes and chirps.
